It’s no secret that the gaming industry has become a massive force in entertainment with estimated annual global revenue this year of $152 billion. What might come as a surprise is the fact that mobile gaming counts for nearly half that amount.
Andrew Paradise, founder and CEO of the competition gaming platform Skillz, says killing time playing games on your phone can now make you thousands of dollars. Don’t believe him? Well, he says his company paid $46,000 to one person for doing just that. The catch? You have to be really good at it.
Mobile esports company Skillz saw its shares rise 25% to $22.73 a share in its first day of trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
